Gaining legal work experience was not easy, but I was extremely appreciative to have heard about Circe Law through Royal Holloway’s Legal Advice Centre. The Legal Advice Centre built an important foundation for my responsibilities at Circe Law, as I felt familiar with drafting attendance notes and interacting with clients in a professional manner.
From the first day, I was encouraged to try new things, such as make phone calls to government agencies and take phone calls from Clients. Although this was slightly scary at first, my confidence improved greatly after these experiences, and I was glad to have been encouraged to do so. I really enjoyed learning the digital and physical filing systems that Circe Law use to streamline their processes and ensure matters are dealt with effectively. Using LEAP was fascinating as I had never used such a system before and was able to see the benefits of such clear organisation.
As someone who was unsure what Private Client work would look like, I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed interacting with Clients so regularly and working on several files allowed me to witness firsthand the progression of Wills, LPA and Letters of Administration matters. The attention to detail that the firm prioritises in all the actions they take on behalf of their Clients is truly representative of the firm’s commitment to prioritising Client care. I feel I have not only grown in confidence whilst at Circe Law, but also built a baseline level of knowledge of Private Client work. The opportunity to participate in a professional development workshop on my first day was incredibly insightful and made me feel so valued as part of the team. I am excited to utilise the skills I have learnt here in my future career.
Through working in a law firm is fast-paced, I felt hugely supported by Circe Law throughout. I appreciate the numerous learning opportunities given to me, even if that meant shadowing another team member whilst they completed a task, just to see how it would be done in practice. I found this more useful for retaining what I had learnt and being able to apply it independently after.
I am extremely grateful for the experience to be able to work in such a dynamic workplace. The close-knit nature of the Circe Law team made me feel so welcome and valued during my time there. A massive thank you to Jess, Shannon and Elizabeth especially for answering my questions with endless patience and being so approachable. I’m so glad to have worked closely with Zuzanna too as we figured things out together! Circe Law has been so kind to me and I am excited to see the firm thrive even more in the years to come.
