Being in my First Year of Law School I seek to gain as much exposure into the Legal Industry
as I can. I came across Circe Law walking home from my local Sainsbury’s, and after researching
the firm and their values, I reached out to Jade to see if they could facilitate a week’s worth
of work experience.
Due to previous experiences I have had during ‘work experience’ in other local firms, I
entered this week assuming I would simply be on the coffee run. To my pleasant surprise, I
was greeted at 9am by Jess, along with a list of tasks to get me started with. Throughout the
week I learnt how to write professional letters and emails, including drafting Client Care
Letters, I was even lucky enough to draft my first Will for a Client. I interacted with clients,
whether that was via email or in person. Jade even invited me into an initial meeting with a
Client, which I appreciate immensely as this showed me how much the team value their
Clients.
I was privileged enough to write a blog on a recent case concerning no-contest clauses, a
concept I had no knowledge prior to my week at Circe Law. This task encouraged me to
practice the essential skill of applying my knowledge gained over the course of the week,
about Wills, to a real case judgment, which is an everyday task of a Private Client Solicitor.
Getting familiar with the case management software ‘LEAP’ was a challenge within itself but
Jess was more than happy to assist me with the endless number of questions I had for her.
Most importantly, I felt comfortable to ask questions to any member of the team which I
greatly appreciated for my growth as an aspiring Solicitor.
I would like to thank Jade for making this experience possible and I give a special thank you
to Jess who was there to mentor me throughout the week, which made this such a valuable
experience at Circe Law.
Overall, I would recommend anyone thinking to enter the legal field to reach out to Circe
Law for an enriching experience in the world of Private Client, Probate and Trust Property.
