During my month-long placement at Circe Law, I had the privilege of working alongside an inspiring, award-winning team who exemplify the highest standards of professionalism and Client care in Private Client law.

Prior to the placement, my only exposure to Wills and Probate came through a few Client matters I had referred to Circe Law from my university’s legal advice centre. That experience sparked my curiosity and admiration for their work, which made me all the more eager to learn directly from their team.

This placement was my first opportunity to become fully immersed in the field of Private Client. I began by supporting the team with essential tasks such as drafting communication with Clients, legal research, drafting initial letters, and developing my knowledge surrounding GDPR compliance through the use of secure file systems. As my skills developed, I was gradually given the opportunity to attend Client meetings and begin to draft legal documents.

I also gained practical understanding of areas I had not studied before, including Probate sales and purchases, and the complexities of Inheritance Tax. These subjects were previously unfamiliar to me, and I appreciated the team’s willingness to guide me through them in a way that was both practical and accessible.

Circe Law’s reputation for exceptional Client care is well-earned. I witnessed this standard of excellence throughout the organisation. Every team member demonstrated professionalism, empathy, and genuine commitment to putting Clients first. Their ability to deliver legal advice with both compassion and clarity left a strong impression on me.

One of the most impactful aspects of my placement was attending a training session on Suicide and Self-Harm Awareness, led by Garry Newman, a trauma specialist psychotherapist. This session deepened my understanding of how emotional intelligence and mental health awareness intersect with legal practice, especially in the Wills and Probate space.

Throughout my time at Circe Law, I developed both personally and professionally. I enhanced my time management and prioritisation skills, improved my legal writing, and became more confident in navigating sensitive Client interactions. I was consistently supported, encouraged to ask questions, and given constructive guidance at every stage. The team created an environment that was not only collaborative and fast-paced, but also welcoming and genuinely uplifting.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Circe Law, not only to Clients seeking empathetic and expert support during difficult times, but also to aspiring legal professionals. For those who are fortunate enough to gain experience with this team, I encourage you to make the most of every opportunity. Be curious, ask questions, and give your full effort. You will leave with skills, insight, and a level of professional development that truly sets you apart.

As I now head into my final year of university, I do so with a renewed sense of confidence, purpose, and a deeper appreciation for the kind of legal professional I aspire to become.
