Being in my final year of my law degree at university, I had not yet gained any real and practical experience within a law firm. This was mostly due to the Covid pandemic making it impossible to shadow firms during the entirety of my sixth form studies, and most of my university studies. Due to this, I joined my university’s Legal Advice Centre (LAC), and that is how I found Circe Law. I was referred to Jade by my supervising solicitor at the LAC and immediately applied for the work experience.

Despite the hate I had for my Equity and Trusts module in my final year of university, I went in with an open mind and found Private Client Law so much more interesting than my studies. I was immediately thrown into the work and although it was slightly daunting at first, I was so excited to make a real difference to client’s lives. Over the four weeks, I quickly adapted to the many new systems, legislation and tasks that are involved with the Private Client work that Circe Law undertakes.

During this time, I have gained experience with drafting Wills, LPAs and an abundance of letters and emails for clients. I also got the chance to sit in many client interviews, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know a few of Circe’s clients. I became accustomed to the LEAP case management system quickly, which has helped prepare my foundational knowledge within case management systems. Not only have I had an amazing experience within the work side of things, but I also got given the chance to attend this year’s London Legal Walk with the team. This was an extremely fun day, whilst supporting such an important cause. It also highlighted how the team stands with their values, inside and outside of the workplace with everyone having a genuine regard for one another.

I also want to say a massive thank you to every single person on this team, they are all incredible and lovely people, and the friendly atmosphere created within this firm is unbeatable. I want to say a special thanks to Jess, as she was the most patient and helpful person, always answering my endless questions! I massively appreciate the supportive environment within Circe, as I was definitely nervous when I first started and worried about making mistakes. However, everyone was so kind and genuinely cared about your development and learning within the work experience.

Overall, I have learnt many valuable skills for my future within law and am eager to utilise these. I wish Circe, and all of the team, the best success – I know you guys will keep on going up from here!
