My relationship with the firm dates back to September 2023, when I completed a week of work experience following the completion of my first year of law. This time around, I completed a month of work experience, which allowed me to engage with many more opportunities to further my knowledge of Private Client work.
I enjoyed being able to leverage the knowledge gained from my second-year Equity and Trusts module and translate it to real world applications. Learning more about the two forms of Lasting Powers of Attorney and attending a Client meeting where Wills and LPAs were being discussed was one of the month’s many highlights. Attending this meeting also allowed me to observe firsthand the high calibre of advice that Circe provides and appreciate the impact that this has on Clients. I’ve found that building relationships with Clients and supporting them through these difficult matters is one of the most rewarding aspects of the work here.
Jess, Shannon, and Elizabeth were all great at consistently assigning me engaging tasks that expanded my understanding of Wills and Probate. Whenever I had a question about a task, they were always available to assist, but they also provided me with a significant amount of trust and responsibility, which I greatly appreciated. Elizabeth, in particular, was excellent at breaking down more difficult ideas and utilised every opportunity to explain the legal background behind each task. For example, Elizabeth made the effort to go through what a ‘grant de bonis non administratis’ entailed; a concept I found especially fascinating, and interesting to observe a practical instance of.
I will always appreciate the chance to work at Circe because of its vibrant and collaborative work atmosphere, which is a testament to the firm’s principles. A special thank you to Jade again for always being happy to have me back.
